At the Whistler Film Festival you won’t find the usual Hollywood movies. So we created an ad campaign that tells unexpected stories. Trailers created for the festival start like predictable Hollywood movies, but take a hard left turn.

The campaign continued on the street with unexpected stories in unexpected places. Stories were hidden in what appeared to be rezoning signs, condo sale boards, pizza flyers and help wanted ads. The copy in each starts out quite expected, but takes a strange twist into tales of drug trafficking, murder and romance gone wrong. Over 30 Craigslist ads were seeded, with items like a chainsaw for sale. After starting with a few lines of technical specs, a dark tale emerges of its grisly use in disposing the body of a murder victim.

On Flickr, people are encouraged to comment on fictional Hollywood-style movie posters with their own unexpected plot. The most imaginative, unexpected plot submissions win all-access festival passes.

To help launch FIFA Street, the world was invited to enter a freestyle skills tournament on Facebook.

A no-drop, single take teaser video featured some of Brazil’s best young freestylers linking together their skills and challenging the rest of the world. The best videos were judged by none other than Leo Messi.

The app-driven Facebook competition featured a simultaneous play button, cueing up two videos at the same time and allowing users to quickly vote on the winner of the head-to-head pairings. In the end, over 160,000 gamers and football fans voted and participated in the competition.
